How Steady Buckets Works
Steady Buckets is an innovative basketball, physical fitness and life skills development program for boys and girls ages 4-18 in the greater New York City area. The program's objective is to develop hard working, resilient, empathetic and confident individuals who will make a positive contribution to their communities. Free of charge, Steady Buckets (SB), is open to all children who are willing to work hard to maximize their potential.
To register, a parent/ guardian must first set up a family account and then select the appropriate age group for their child. The "U" stands for "and under" so 6U is for 4, 5, and 6 year olds, 8U is for 7 and 8 year olds, 10U is for 9 and 10 year olds, etc.
Once registering for our 2017 Winter Season players are welcome to join any of our workouts listed on the SB Calendar at steadybuckets.org (YMCA workouts require registering and processing payment with the Chinatown Y. This class has a fee of $30 per workout; $25 for Y members. You can call the Chinatown YMCA at 212-912-2460).
All weekday and weekend "open workouts" are open to players of all ages. On Saturdays, the 6U, 8U,and girls only groups have their own workout time. Upon arriving players will then be broken into smaller groups within the workout, appropriate to their age and skill level.
Weekday workouts are 2-hours long with an emphasis on shooting and ball handling skills. Weekend workouts are 3-hours long including a 45-minute warmup, 90-minutes of basketball training, and a 45-minute cool down session including stretching, yoga and meditation.
The best way to understand how SB works is to show up for a training session, but if you have specific questions or concerns please call Coach Macky at 646-734-4395.
